My inland waterway childhood reflects in my involvement in a variety of inland waterway related projects. On one side again related with research into the possibilities of larger vessels into existing infrastructure, but also with projects like the introduction of River Information Services in Europe and especially the development and standardisation of electronic charts on inland waterways.
While on the one hand being involved in seeing how the use of inland waterways can be optimised, I also seek to stress the importance of a broad inland waterway transport product. Convinced as I am how important smaller vessels are for sustainable transport in servicing the capillary.
